Official EPC statement „Practical behaviour and circumstances informations / recommendations to SARSCoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2) und COVID-19 (Coronarvirus Disease 2019) within occupational health management (OHM) by Uwe Nixdorff, M.D., Associate Professor; Internist, Cardiologist for EPC GmbH - European Prevention Center (www.epccheckup.de) and Hanako GmbH (www.hanako-health.com):

A webinar of BVMW (Bundesverband Mittelständischer Wirtschaft) held at 6th May 2020 presented medical and oeconomic aspects of Corona pandemia.

Prof. Nixdorff is cooptive executive member of the healh commission of BVMW.

Uwe Nixdorff

Prof. Nixdorff is the founder of the European Prevention Center (EPC), which was founded in March 2005 in Munich. Check-up examinations in comprehensive algorithms including Whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB-MRI) are being implemented in the business sector (b-to-b). This was preceded by extensive scientific work on the principles of risk stratification, early detection, and consecutive prevention measures at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Leibniz Institute for Arteriosclerosis Research at University Hospital Munster and at the Cooper Institute, Dallas / Texas, USA. Location is Dusseldorf; other historical locations are Berlin, Duisburg, Munich; whereby a "rollout" with the high quality claim and assurance as well as the special attention with the motivational goal of lifestyle modification could not prove true. In standardized and scaled form, the mobile service offering through programmed / digital implementation of the EPC experience is taken into account by the further establishment of Hanako (www.hanako-health.com) in the area of wider workplace health management.

Testimonials

"For our company, we were looking for a partner who, on the one hand could garanty the provision of health care for our executives, who supported the preservation of the health of our high-performers and at the same time showed loyalty and care from the company, which could further strengthen our leadership circle. Companies want loyalty from employees and executives. Bonding and loyal behavior are always two-sided. With the provision of health care, a company shows care, responsibility and loyalty in the most important area of human life. Therefore, a few years ago we decided to realize this fundamentally sensitive topic with a particularly competent and trustworthy partner. After a selection process we decided on Prof. Uwe Nixdorff.

The feedback from our colleagues in the management circle was overwhelming. Not only that the medical examinations by specialists of the relevant orientations were very convincing. The cardiological area was covered by Prof. Nixdorff personally. In particular, the inclusion of patients at eye level in findings of preventive testing inspired all participants of the program. The final discussion with Prof. Nixdorff was always considered a highlight. It was described that in completely transparent and comprehensible form all results were discussed in a calm and time pressure free atmosphere and the derivations of it could be discussed. This was not limited to medical facts, but a true life coaching was also part of the conversation. Also nutrition and sports program could be planned. The entire program with the concluding consultation had a highly motivating effect on the further behavior and caused honest gratitude compared to the previous session. The feedback from our executives did not surprise me, but confirmed my own experience, as I was the first to participate in the program on a trial basis.

The preventive program according to the method of Prof. Uwe Nixdorf has become a solid and particularly valuable part of our management support and has a strong influence on trust and culture in our management circle. "

"For me, Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Nixdorff counts to the best experts of preventive medicine in the country. His executive program also has a very special significance for our company. Both the comprehensive medical examinations of the specialists and the intensive personal care of the patients are in my opinion unique. Particularly noteworthy is the final discussion, in which Prof. Dr. Nixdorff discusses in detail all the results with the patients - in a language understandable even to medical laymen. Added to this is the excellent patient-tailored advice that covers many areas of life (including nutrition and lifestyle). All in all, Prof. Dr. Nixdorff initiated a preventive program which for me is an essential milestone in comprehensive preventive care, which is unparalleled and which I can highly recommend to any company.

European Society of Cardiology (ESC)

Prof. Nixdorff had actively participated in various accreditations in the field of imaging; also on the curriculum of the "European Cardiologist"; currently member of the Deployment Endorsement Policy / Task Force Live Events. The company represents the approximately 60,000 cardiologists in Europe. There is an extensive arsenal of scientific guidelines that make up the evidence base in the EPC.

European Association of Preventive Cardiology

European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC)

Prof. Nixdorff is a member of the Executive Board; Speaker of the Communication Committee; furthermore Consultant of the Section Prevention, Epidemiology & Population Science (PEP). Within the ESC, the concern of the prevention cardiology is addressed, as is underlined by a current projective accreditation for prevention centers by the EPC as a pilot center.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie – Herz- und Kreislaufforschung (DGK)

Prof. Nixdorff was Chairman of the Cardiovascular Ultrasound Working Group as well as cluster spokespersons of the Imaging Working Groups (Echo, MRI, CT, Nuclear); in consequence also chairman of the working group for preventive cardiology. Training activity in the Academy of the DGK. The company represents approx. 8,000 cardiologists in Germany.

The EPC has been accredited as one of the first European prevention centres by the EAPC (European Association of Preventive Cardiology) of the ESC (European Society of Cardiology). An overview of actual status of accreditation centres can be recognised here: https://www.escardio.org/Education/Career-Development/Accreditation/EAPC-centre-accreditation

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Prävention und Anti-Aging Medizin

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Prävention und Anti-Aging Medizin (GSAAM)

Prof. Nixdorff is a member of the board and scientific advisory board. The society addresses prevention and aging medicine. Approximately 1,000 colleagues interested in preventive medicine are members. In addition to evidence, innovation of prevention is also addressed.

Hochdruckliga

Prof. Nixdorff is a member of the Commission on Vascular Function; the corresponding diagnostics are established in the EPC as basic diagnostics (arterial vascular stiffness or elasticity, "man is as old as his vessels")

Herzstiftung

Herzstiftung

Prof. Nixdorff works on the Scientific Advisory Board, where he handles the annual theme-heart-weeks and telephone conversations to clarify "heart issues" of the population.

Prevention studies based on the EPC algorithm

Prof. Nixdorff worked as a Research Fellow at Leibniz Institute for Arteriosclerosis Research at the University Hospital Münster under the direction of Prof. Assmann. PROCAM research lives on under the foundation. Here, the PROCAM risk score (the own heart attack risk) underlying the EPC algorithm can be calculated with a calculator.

Prof. Nixdorff is in scientific contact with Dr. Cooper and Dr. Blair since he received the certification "Physical Fitness Specialist" there. The Cooper Institute and Cooper Clinic under the direction of Dr. Cooper is the leading scientific fitness institute from which until now > 700 peer-reviewed articles have resulted and to which the EPC is significantly oriented.

Prof. Nixdorff worked for many years with Prof. Erbel at Johannes Gutenberg University Hospital Mainz, the inaugurator of the Nixdorf Recall Study; a fundamental prevention study. Nomograms of this study are established in the EPC, according to which age and sex referencing of many measurements are made.

Affiliations

In addition to the EPC, Prof. Nixdorff runs a private cardiology practice with a preventive cardiological and non-invasive imaging focus. The use of invasive procedures (cardiac catheterization) can be focused much better.

Professor Nixdorff is medical CEO of the healthcare provider Hanako. Hanako offers health checks to medium-sized and large companies for their employees. Hanako's health checks are based on the EPC's experience, are fully modularised and are carried out by medical teams with mobile devices throughout Germany, without travel or waiting times for participants.

(IC)²

Prof. Nixdorff has collaborated with the radiological and nuclear cardiological colleagues of MVZ radios GmbH (https://www.radios-praxen.de) the "Interdisciplinary Cardiac Imaging Center ((IC) ²)" in the home of the Medical Center Düsseldorf (GrandArc). For cardiac cross sectional diagnostics, an ultra-fast SOMATOM Definition Edge CT (lowest radiation dose, shortest examination duration, highest image quality), a 3T MRI and a D-SPECT gamma camera are available.

ECPM

In respect of future development the preventive medical experience of EPC will be complimented by the cooperation with a renowned geneticist, Prof. K. Nayernia. The spatial resolution of modern cross-sectional imaging is about 5 mm in CT and 10 mm in MRI (phenotype). Much earlier detection resp. disposition of (malignant) processes can be achieved by molecular and genetic modalities (genotype). In ECPM for personalised preventive medicine genotype as well as phenotype are assessed in a synthetic information complimentation which professionalises preventive medicine.

Through these networks, the presence on the internet as well as the awareness und knowledge transfer to interested people is enhanced.
